Activism bio (charitable work)
Esai Morales prefers to call himself an "Actorvist", since he puts as much energy and focus on his activism as he does on his acting career. He is concerned about the state of affairs in this country, from the environment, to the widespread use of guns, to the quality of the food that is being consumed, to the effect of television on the minds of the viewing public, and the marginalized representation of Latinos in TV and film. He is one of the founding members of Earth Communications Office (ECO), comprised of concerned celebrities and others who want to make a difference in helping the environment. The focus of ECO is in using "the power of communication to improve the global environment.". ECO has also partnered with the International Fund for Animal Welfare in trying to protect the world's biodiversity. ``I find myself recklessly pursuing the truth. My urge to know is stronger than wanting to put it aside,'' he says.
